Mark Farnan

As Chief Technology Officer of Bardasz, Mark is responsible for the leadership, strategy, architecture, and timely delivery of all technology projects. A seasoned professional, Mark brings over 35 years of technical expertise in digital technology to Bardasz and the successful delivery of a wide range of solutions across upstream oil and gas, gaming, finance, and defense. He specializes in the delivery of advanced systems for transmission, storage presentation, and analytics of complex real-time data and other upstream Oil & Gas industry information.

Mark began his career as an Electronics and IT specialist with the Royal Australian Navy before moving into the Oil and Gas Industry in 2001 at Visean (now Weatherford) where he was Director of IT and Software. In 2007, Mark joined an oilfield service company as Development Manager and Chief Architect. In 2012, he was promoted to the position of CTO where he managed more than 100 employees in 8 countries across some 30+ concurrent projects. During his 20 years in the Oil & Gas industry, Mark has designed, developed, and run multiple real-time data systems, including the system running all 200+ of Saudi Aramco’s drilling operations.

Mark brings a broad range of business and technical skills with a deep understanding of both technical challenges and how to apply those for cost-effective quality business results in an ever-changing world Passionate about technology and how it can be used, Mark has been a member of the Energistics WITSML community since 2001 and currently acts as Co-chair of the WITSML SIG and member of the Energistics Cross Sig Architecture team.
